I'm glad all this salt and shit isn't on my paint.
I don't like washing my cars in the winter.
Imo Plasti dip is a great option and has always held up well for me.

I was thinking that if I end up keeping my Civc for awhile I'd plastidip it. Probly in that blaze blue. I hate having a red car, especially such a common one.

How long has the dip been on there, and is there any (potential) issues in the future removing it?

goign to feel so satisfying to peel that off come summer and see a clean car beneath

Did you ever do a write-up on the process of plasti-dipping a car? I am seriously curious about doing this to my Land Rover (roof paint is going, going, gone)

No, but you can find all the info you need on the dipyourcar.com forums. I've done it on multiple cars and motorcycles and kind of got hooked on it.

The blue has been there since early december. I've dipped a couple cars and motorcycles and no issues removing it, except getting it out of all the little crevices can sometimes be annoying.

Nice. Hope you did a few layers! I had to help pull blue dip off an old 911 a while ago, and it sucked really bad.

Many layers. It had 3 gallons of aluminum on it actually before I did the blue in december so there's probably 12 coats on total at least.

Nice, should come off in big pieces then.

I hate to break it to you, but other than the leading edge of the hood, the outer surface is the least likely place for rust to start. Underfloor, inside the rocker panels, inside the fenders, wheelwells, doorjambs, and underhood areas will all get salt-induced cancer before the outer panels do.
That being said, the dip will still protect the paint from the constant scratching and beating it would get from the winter grime.

I didn't really dip it to protect from winter, I just did it for a new look. There already was rust on the edge of the hood, had to sand that down first. Amazingly however, this car is not very rust-prone for living in Michigan for ten years. The underbody is really clean and fenders don't show any signs of rust yet (which is usually where my other cars start rusting first).

What kind of equipment do I need to get it done?
Do you need a bake room for it to dry? (Like in a pro-paint shop - Dad used to be a bodyshop/detail shop owner)

Here's all the newb FAQ's.
I used a spray gun in a garage, it dries super quick and you can drive after a few hours. One car I dipped I drove it for an hour in the rain two hours after I finished it with no issues.

My bike is dipped too, in case anyone wanted to see another example of it.
